Fuel Your Fitness

Exercise is so important for your overall health. What you eat before you exercise does matter. Please look at the list for guidance as you start increasing your activity. Be mindful of portions and calories so you are not eating more than you are burning.

  • Before you exercise, eat some protein or some whole grain foods. Try apple and peanut butter, a yogurt with berries, or whole wheat toast w/peanut butter.  Stay away from processed foods.
  • After exercise, choose trail mix, yogurt, walnuts, almonds, fruit, oatmeal, berries, protein shakes, or a banana. Anything that has high nutritional value.
  • Be mindful not to take more calories in than the number of calories you are burning at one time. Find other ways to burn calories throughout the day.
